Abdallah, an Arab Muslim civil engineer married to Irene, a Greek Cypriot woman, has to come to terms with his own responsibility in the collapse of a building in an Arab refugee settlement, which causes the death of 7 people. Having been radicalized, Iman and Leila, two young Europeans of Arab origin, are sent to Cyprus, with a secret mission. Michelle, a lonely 17-year old girl, child of a broken family, falls for Angelos, a handsome, domineering young man. Three stories, each involving characters whose actions may mean the difference between life and death, are defined by their search for redemption from their past, their guilt, their loneliness.
Cyprus-born Corinna Avraamidou studied film and television directing at the London Goldsmiths’ College and the New York Film Academy. Ever since 1992 she has been working at the Cyprus Broadcasting Corporation (CyBC) directing serials, live broadcasts, musical shows, video clips, cultural and entertainment programs. During the last 15 years she has specialized in writing and directing television drama productions. She has directed mainly period dramas, winning various local awards for best television series.
However, her great passion is film. She has been working at films writing and directing the 25 min short film “The Secret of the First Day”, (2001) that won first prize for screenplay at the 2nd Cyprus Short Film Festival. In 2008 she wrote and directed her first feature film, entitled “The Last Homecoming”, which won Best New Director at Alexandria International Film Festival, Egypt, 2008, and Best Feature Film at the London Greek Film Festival, 2009, and was distributed by Vanguard Distribution USA. Iman is her second feature film.
Kyriacos Tofarides studied Theatre Direction and Acting receiving a Post Graduate Degree in Film and Television Directing at the National Academy of Theatre and Film Art in Sofia, Bulgaria. In Cyprus he took part as an actor and director in a considerable number of theatre performances both at the Cyprus National Theatre as well as other independent theatre groups. He also worked as a television director at the Cyprus Broadcasting Corporation, directing entertainment programs and drama productions. He produced and directed several short films.
He is the producer of the award- winning film “The Last Homecoming”. In 2013 Kyriacos produced and directed his first feature film BLOCK 12 – Special Jury Award in “Cyprus Film days IFF”, European Film Awards Selection 2013, Best Concept for Fiction Feature - Best Screenplay - Best Actress for Carmen Ruggeri in “London Greek Film Festival, 2014”, Special Jury Award in “5th International Comedy Film Festival – Gabrovo, 2014”. IMAN is his second feature film.
He is a member of the European Film Academy and the Cyprus Directors Union. He has acted as a member of the Cinema Classification Committee (Press and Information Office of Cyprus).
