The annual festival and the IMDb qualifying seasonal competition is an innovative event with annual live screenings and networking events through Cinema du Parc and seasonal promotions through MIFF magazine/Channel to thousands of artists and media professionals.
The annual and the seasonal competition of the MIFF has turned into one of the most popular emerging international festivals in the past few years. The festival committee is devoted to the promotion, discovery, recognition and screening of independent films of all genres from all over the world in its seasonal and annual programs through online and the cinema.
With thousands of entries every year, the programming team nominates about hundred projects for each seasonal competition and the winners are forwarded to the annual programming team for the annual screenings of the festival at the Cinema du Parc of Montreal and through MIFF magazine/Channel. The finalists are screened in the cinema every year. All the seasonal nominees are also invited to screen their projects through MIFF platform. Arsalan Baraheni, the artistic director of Montreal Independent Film Festival brings together various distributors, critics, filmmakers and artists from various countries to join the festival and the festival team consists of artists from all over the globe.
